Adams Print tops Vic PICAs

Adams Print was named the clear winner at the Vic Printing Industry Craftmanship Awards in Melbourne, walking away with six gold medals out of a total 13 awards it won.

The company also took the top prize, the Ball and Doggett Judges Award, for its work Van Gogh. It received gold for six of its entries, with its work Focus RS LE winning the category Leaflets, flyers or brochures, Van Gogh topping Books (offset), Banyan Hill Brochure for Booklets, Catalogues and Magazines, Cabrini Annual Report 2016-17 for Annual reports, Prospectus, Yearbooks; Yarra One taking Innovative Reinvention and Del Kathryn Barton The Highway is a Disco for Limited Edition. It also collected five silver and two bronze medals.

Whirlwind Print scored the other big prize of Highly Commended for its submission One Barangaroo, which also took first place in Books (Hybrid), along with a bronze award.

Nulab secured gold for its entry Polar Bear in Books (digital), Multi piece productions and campaigns, Specialty Printing. It also took five bronze medals.

Labelhouse took the gold for both Labels (offset) and (other than offset) with its submissions Vandenberg 2017 Shiraz and Flyaway Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc respectively. The business also won three silver and one bronze medal.

Blue Star Print took the top prize for Point of Sale with its entry Colourful Hair Banner set. It also took five silver and four bronze awards.

Chapel Press received gold for its Studio Snoop Note Cards in Stationery. The company also won two silver and three bronze.

Rooster IMC came first in Large Format Applications (A0 and above) with its work Light Box, along with winning an additional silver medal.

Pandoras Boxes won Packaging with its QT Clam Shell Compendium along with an additional bronze medal.

Printgraphics won gold for its work To Have and to Hold for Self-Promotion. Lorimer took gold for its Pavilion Brochure in Embellishments.

Other winners include Print 2 Metal, Spicers and The Creative Works.

The state competition saw more than 130 entries and was sponsored by Media Super, Ball & Doggett and Spot Productions. All gold medallists will go on to compete at the national awards to be held in Sydney, June 29 at Brighton Lakes Gold Club. The event will include an industry golf day and summit.

Andrew Macaulay, CEO, PIAA says “It is indicative of the excellence and innovation of the industry that we have had such a high calibre of print submitted this year. It is important to celebrate our industry, the printers and their craft, and to ensure that as an industry we are showcasing the visual communications industry contribution to the Australian economy.”
