Aldus sports the cutter to die for

The critical component of the Performance Series 5 cutter is a Quick Change Die Cutter (QCDC) cassette that enables a changeover of dies within 30 seconds – a task that typically took anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes on conventional diecutters, said Aldus Engineering general manager Ian Guanaria.

The quick-change diecutter slashes makeready and adds productivity and environmental friendliness to the diecutting equation, he said.

The eight-colour Mark Andy Performance line on show at the Aldus stand prints an adhesive label, diecuts the shape, removes the water and has UV drying.

It is the first of its kind on show in Australia, but a similar unit recently sold in New Zealand even enables diechanging on the fly, said Aldus sales manager Mark Spencer.
