ASGA & FESPA Australia reschedule HP Awards for Excellence

Following the recent postponement of PacPrint 2021, The Australian Sign and Graphics Association (ASGA) and FESPA Australia have rescheduled the HP Awards for Excellence presentation.

No confirmed date for the event has been set yet, with its organisers stating that “further details will be announced once alternative arrangements have been made”.

The HP Awards for Excellence was rescheduled to take place on 28 September in Melbourne in January, to the opening night of PacPrint 2021.

It was initially scheduled to take place in Sydney on 19 February as part of the ASGA & FESPA HP National Conference, which was cancelled as a result of lockdowns resulting from COVID-19.

“It is unfortunate we are in the position again of being at the mercy of COVID-19 developments. Acknowledging the Award winners and supporting sponsors is of paramount importance. We are working with our key stakeholders to find a solution,” ASGA president Julie Rochester said.

FESPA Australia president Nigel Davies said the decision to reschedule was made to be able to give recognition to the winners and celebrate their success when possible.

“While it is disappointing, it is not unexpected in these times. Our winners deserve recognition for their excellence, along with our sponsors for their continued support, and I am confident that we will find a way to suitably celebrate their achievements,” he added.

PacPrint organiser Visual Connections Australia yesterday confirmed that due to ongoing uncertainty caused by COVID outbreaks around the country, the upcoming tradeshow has been postponed to the middle of 2022.

PacPrint 2021, Visual Impact Melbourne and the Label & Packaging Expo were due to take place at the end of September; however with the current COVID-19 lockdown situation in Sydney and, to a lesser extent, Melbourne, Queensland and South Australia, PacPrint Board chair Sue Threlfo said the decision to postpone it has become ‘inevitable’.
