Association merger combines LATMA with ANZFTA

Major associations Label and Tag Manufacturers Association of Australia (LATMA) and the Australian New Zealand Flexographic Technical Association (ANZFTA) have officially merged.

The new association will be the Flexible Packaging & Label Manufacturers Association (FPLMA).

LATMA and ANZFTA held a special extraordinary meeting in Melbourne last week to vote on the association consolidation, with the ‘overwhelming majority’ in support of the new constitution.

According to the freshly established association, there will be an equal split of representation built from the previous two boards, with previous LATMA president and Impressik marketing manager Mark Easton staying on as president and Amcor’s Andrew Tutt remaining as vice-president.

“This is a great opportunity for us all to celebrate the best from within our value added industries,” states FPLMA in correspondence to members.

Both associations had been in merger talks since October last year, a consolidating market and declining sponsorship pushing the groups to maintain a strong position by becoming one.

As part of the new united associations, FPLMA is also set to introduce a new awards program this year for self adhesive labels, flexographic and gravure packaging.
