Awards deadline extended

Printovation and the Victorian PICAs have extended their deadline for entries by a week.

Printers now have until 20 September to submit entries, with judging for both events to begin on 24 September.

GASA general manager Garry Knespal said a record number of entries had been received for the Printovation Awards and that tickets were selling fast for the awards dinner.

Meanwhile, Victoria confirmed that prominent industry figure Graeme Barnes would head its judging panel.

Awards chairman Trevor Hone said Barnes had nearly 60 years of continuous industry involvement covering letterpress, flexo, gravure, offset and digital.

"As a teacher of 30 years standing and head of the former Melbourne College of Printing & Graphic Arts prior to its acquisition by RMIT, a key member of industry associations and initiatives too numerous to mention, and a former judge and chairman of judges in various industry awards including PICA and the National Print Awards, Graeme brings a depth of knowledge and expertise which would be difficult to rival."
