Bambra bridges offset-digital divide with new Indigo 10000

John Wanless, owner of the 55-staff Melbourne printer, said he had decided to stick with HP after using the Indigo 7600, 5500 and 3050 machines throughout the past nine years.

“I’ve been looking at inkjet for the past 10 years and I think it’s a great technology, but right now I think Indigo is the way to go for us because we’re Indigo users,” he told the PacPrint Daily.

Wanless was won over by the B2-sized Indigo 10000 after inspecting the technology in Singapore in February.

He said it would be the perfect press to bridge the gap between the B2 offset and A3 digital printing that Bambra does. Work that is currently handled by either its digital or offset fleet will be done more efficiently on the Indigo 10000, he said.

“This new press will give us the best of both worlds – it’s the best B2 format machine for our production needs, and it will give us offset quality with digital customisation.”

HP’s country manager for Indigo, Steve Donegal, said the B2 sheet size and the customisation options would allow Bambra to “produce a wider range of work more efficiently”.

Distributor Currie Group said it was excited by the installation.

“Bambra Press is held in high regard in the Australian print market and in the years Currie Group and Bambra Press have worked together, we’ve enjoyed a very strong relationship,” said sales & marketing director Phillip Rennell.

“The HP Indigo 10000 digital press is an exciting addition and will provide opportunities to Bambra well into the future.”

Bambra is the second Australian printer to order an Indigo 10000 after Courtney Colour.
