Blue Star NZ appoints new CEO and hires another Geon exec

Greg Howell has taken over from Jupe, who announced his resignation a week ago. The change is effective immediately.

Howell worked at Blue Star NZ from 2002-10, mostly as general manager of the group's Rapid Labels business.

He is currently a director of two Tiri Group companies: Rapid Labels and New Zealand Insulators. Tiri Group is owned by Tom Sturgess, who bought Blue Star NZ in January.

Sturgess said Howell's role would be expanded to encompass the businesses that previously reported to Jupe.

Blue Star NZ also announced that Bernie Roberts would continue as chief executive of Webstar NZ.

Meanwhile, former Geon and PMP executive Chris Wise has been appointed as general manager of PanPrint, another of the group's companies.

He told ProPrint: "I'm very excited with the opportunity in the labels division."

Wise joined PanPrint in April after working at Geon from 2006-13. His roles included New Zealand sales & marketing manager and group corporate manager.

He also served as national sales manager at PMP from 2005-06 and worked at Blue Star from 1998-05.
