Bromide Club meeting in WA

The WA-branch of the LIA is holding an informal meetup, called the Bromide Club, on November 15 at the Wembley Hotel.

Anthony Pittaway, WA President, LIA, says, “It is an initiative to bring the industry together, with the bromide being the call. If you are old enough to know what a bromide is, you’re welcome to join the club.

“So it is calling out to those of an older vintage to get together and chew the fat.

“We had one that happened back in May this year, and it was a success. The positive take from that was that people talked about how they got into the industry.

“One bloke there happened to talk about running a certain press, which I also ran, and another bloke noted he lost a finger to the same press.”

The meeting will be addressed by Andrew Macaulay and Walter Kuhn of the PIAA, with Pittaway noting, “We also have the CEO and President of Printing Industries, so its an open forum where members and non-members can have a chat and see where the PIAA is at.

“We are trying to get a bit of fun into the industry, and in a manner that people might see as interesting, more than a talk or catch up.

“Apathy rules in this industry, and a lot of people within it do not give back. This is something they can do to give back.

“Anyone that has complaints over that statement is welcome to come to the lunch and deliver them to me directly.”
