Camerons Group produces $1m of envelope work for 2011 Census

The ABS published details of two separate envelope contracts handed to Camerons Group. They total $1,080,973, comprising pressure-sealed envelopes containing variable data as well as mail-back and privacy envelopes.

The pair of two-year envelope contracts run from March 2010 to March 2012, though details were only revealed last week.

The ABS told ProPrint the work is for the Australian Census of Population and Housing, due to take place in August this year.

For the 2006 Census, the mail-back and privacy envelopes were printed by PMG subsidiary Ducor, while Camerons printed the pressure-sealed envelopes.

A government spokesperon said: “The ABS conducted a tender process for both these agreements in line with the Commonwealth Procurement Guidelines.

“In the two separate tender processes, the Camerons Group offered the best value for money outcome for the ABS and Commonwealth.”

Camerons Group did not respond to ProPrint by time of writing.

The ABS also revealed the value of PMG’s contract. The printer is producing $6.3m of Census work, including 14.5 million 18pp forms.

IPMG’s Craft Imprint arm is producing roughly 13.5 million Census Guides, 15.8 million Dwelling Cards, 565,000 Refusal Reports, and 1.34 million Obligation Statements.
