Celarc replaces Brigstocke as Opus CEO

Opus Group CEO Cliff Brigstocke has stepped down as CEO to be replaced by executive chairman Richard Celarc following a management structure review undertaken by its board of directors. The company’s ASX announcement of the management reshuffle confirms Celarc will also continue his duties as executive chairman, while Brigstocke will shift to the role of managing director for sales and marketing. The company says the change will allow Brigstocke to focus on Opus Group’s sales and revenue. Celarc has a long history with the company, he joined when Knox p/e bought Ligare and remains a shareholder. He became executive director in 2012, to executive chairman in 2015 and now CEO.

Brigstocke has led Opus since its inception in 2007, and prior to that was CEO of its predecessor Knox Print Media, which was formed as New Zealand private equity fund bought into various print businesses here and in New Zealand. Hong Kong printer 1010 Printing Group rescued the company in 2014 after it purchased a 61 per cent stake of the company. Since the deal with 1010, Opus Group has seen its profits boosted to $12m for the full year in 2015. Commenting on those results in early March, Celarc says the company has implemented what he calls a successful formula of a back to basics approach combined with a hands on management style. He says, “To build on our six-month results in this way is testament to all the hard work put in by our team and the strong support we have from 1010.”
