Charters Paper is winning tickets with first offset press

The 1999 model is the Melbourne-based company’s first offset machine, joining a fleet of flexographic equipment to enable the business to complete more work in-house.

General manager Michael Sfetkidis said Charters flew the machine’s new operator over to the US to test the secondhand press, which was in “excellent condition”.

“This installation will open us up to new markets, and it will allow us to offer more competitive prices,” he said.

“The intangible benefits are very worthwhile, such as not having to transport stock back and forth to other printers as well as improving turnaround times.”

Sfetkidis said printed rolls make up 30% of the company’s output, but he believes the installation will boost ticketing work for the 15-staff business.

The Viper has a maximum web width of the 490mm and can print on stocks up to 200gsm.

Charters specialises in the manufacture, storage and distribution of plain and pre-printed receipts Australia-wide.
