Colourscan’s axed staff miss out on super

Colourscan called in liquidators Worrells in June with $700,000 owed to employees.

The liquidators confirmed that after the company’s plant and equipment were sold at auction, secured creditors had still seen a shortfall.

At a creditor’s meeting on 2 September, the insolvency firm advised that “there had been insufficient recoveries to pay any dividend at this time”.

The minutes from the meeting said: “The liquidator is dealing with GEERS (General Employee Entitlements and Redundancy Scheme) and expected to distribute employee entitlements shortly.”

Former staff members have told ProPrint they are owed 14 months worth of super, adding that they were yet to see GEERS money.

According to the minutes of the meeting: “The chairman advised that the liquidator would now commence his investigations [into] potential preferential payments, void transaction and insolvent trading.”

One former employee told ProPrint that workers were also owed money they had salary sacrificed, but the only way to get this back would be to take legal action against Colourscan director Jeff Osborne.

Osborne did not respond to ProPrint.
