Commex makes glass and aluminum printing push with Jetrix machine

Commex managing director Aaron Alcorn told ProPrint that the company decided to replace its Arizona T220 with a Jetrix 3015 FQ in light of recent technological advances in wide-format.

“We bought [the Arizona] in 2004 and basically it was time for an upgrade,” Alcorn said. “It was performing its job, but there other machines out there that were more suited to the type of work we are doing.”

Commex’s print offering is primarily focused on glass splash-backs and aluminium paneling. Alcorn said he was particularly attracted to the Jetrix machine’s white ink and clear varnish.

He said Commex was currently looking to push its solid media printing, as was in discussions with a number of architects and councils to produce images for glass windows.

The company also operates a Seiko ColorPainter V-64 for printing on flexible media, as well as solid and flexible media cutting machines.

The Jetrix 3015 FQ, which is believed to be the first of its kind in Queensland, prints at more than 1,000dpi and features 10 printheads.

South Korea-based Jetrix is handled locally by Anitech.
