Computershare saves utilities client 10% with switch from offset to InfoPrint 5000

Computershare Communication Services, the printing division of the share registry giant, has been working with the utilities company since 2006, but previously outsourced printing of base stocks to offset suppliers.

The company can now eliminate these 45 different base stocks, which had been pre-printed with the team colours of sporting clubs, by switching to inkjet production on the country’s first InfoPrint 5000.

Computershare added that the cost of the job was reduced by 10% and time to market was slashed from 14 to nine days.

Australian Power & Gas chief executive James Myatt said: “With a tight turnaround time, Computershare Communication Services had us up and running on the new variable colour platform, which saved us a great deal of cost in eliminating the need for base stock completely.”

“For many clients, such as Australian Power & Gas, full colour is a cost-effective option for the first time and the printing process is actually much shorter in steps to achieve it,” explained Ross Ingleton, sales director, Computershare Communication Services  (pictured).

He added that Computershare Communication Services was now selling the benefits of switching from offset to inkjet to all its clients. “We’re more than happy with the results and are considering another machine.”
