Currie roadshow ends on a high note

The Currie roadshow wrapped up in Perth last week after a productive three days in WA that is likely to see several equipment sales, capping off a successful road trip across the country.

Managing director Bernie Robinson says the final stop at Currie’s Perth office in Osborne Park on April 29 – May 1 has already made one sale of a Horizon CRF-362 creaser and folder off the back of the truck, and he expects to make at least three other additional sales, along with a few solid leads on HP Indigo machines.

He says about 120 people from 50 companies turned up over the three days to check out the array of printing equipment trucked all the way from the east coast across the Nullarbor, including HP Indigo 3550, Horizon Creaser / Folder CRF – 362, Horizon Folder AFC – 564A, Horizon Perfect Binder BQ – 280PUR, Horizon Finishing Line SPF – 200L / FC – 200L / VAC – 1000A, Horizon Table Top Folder PF – 40 and a Cron Thermal CTP System.

Robinson has been on the whole month-long tour with the 41.5 tonne, 20 metre long and up to 6.5 metre wide truck as it wound its way through Albury and Bendigo, VIC and then to Adelaide before heading west.

In Perth he was joined by Currie chief executive David Currie and HP business development manager Jason Beckley, who was showing off the Indigo 3550 that debuted at the Perth leg of the tour.

“I’m really happy with the turnout over the three days and it was great to have David Currie himself there and he talked with a lot of printers interested in our products,” he says.

Robinson says the roadshow is a good way of showing printers outside Melbourne and Sydney its new technology.

“Not a lot of printers in the country or out west can make it into our showrooms during the week to get a look at new gear, so this is a way of getting out there and showing them face-to-face,” he says.

“We can pull up anywhere in this truck and give live demonstrations powered by a portable generator. Our customers really appreciate it.

“We find out what people want to see before we set out and also bring along some new products they might not have seen before.”

The trip was so successful that Robinson says they are planning to do it all again in a few weeks on a similar route, and hope for an east coast tour in the near future.

“The challenge now is deciding which equipment to put on the truck for the next roadshow, as we have a broad range of products,” he says.
