DGS Mimaki talks up busy show as wide-format kit flies off the stand

Creighton said DGS Mimaki has already chalked up several major sales off the stand, including two of the flagship high-speed 1,440dpi JV33 wide-format inkjet systems.

The company has also snared two confirmed orders for its compact UJF-3042 tabletop printer for short-run, on-demand work. The UV LED-curing printer is optimised for printing heat-sensitive material in the packaging field.

Creighton praised the co-location model, although he said a considerable slab of Mimaki’s local customers are from the commercial markets served by PrintEx.

Asked what he would improve about the show, Creighton said he would have liked some weekend time for the two exhibitions. “Many wide-format printers are unable to leave their businesses on weekdays. A Saturday would have given them more of a chance.”

Among many offerings on the Mimaki stand are its packaging and industrial UV printers, which now add a clear varnish option, the UJF706, and a 700x600mm UV cured inkjet printer that prints up to 150mm thick.

Mimaki is collaborating with GMG proofing software for the UJF706’s six-colour ink-set, and targeting the flexo and packaging markets.

Its JFX series is a larger UV flatbed machine aimed at signage makers. “It’s the latest series from Mimaki in this market, and the Plus model has a LED post-cure unit,” said Creighton.

“LED lamps only generate room-temperature heat for curing, so we can print on a lot of heat sensitive products.”

Other offerings include routers/creasers, rollfed printers, and products for the sign graphics, industrial and fashion textiles markets.
