Dinkums gives Epson printer a fair go

Melbourne based outfit, Dinkums Print & Design has installed a new Epson SureColor SC-T7200D, supplied by Fuji Xerox Australia, to keep up with demand. Owner John Wilson says purchasing the Epson SureColor has seen the business increase its productivity, while also taking up less space in the shop as it comes with the Epson’s integrated scanner. Wilson says, “To be honest it replaced a similar style of printer, it does a similar job in terms of print resolution and quality, but it has an integrated scanner. The previous printer also had a scanner, but it was stand alone, which took up a lot of space, and as a business, this was an issue because we don’t have a lot of it.

“We can use our space more effectively; we can do jobs quicker, provide a speedy service, and serve customers quicker.” Having held senior marketing roles within global organisations such as Honda and Bayer Cropscience, Wilson has brought his sales experience to Dinkums. Despite only owning the business for 12 months, Wilson has expanded its equipment range by taking on new print devices. Wilson bought the Epson SureColor SC-T7200D to replace two older wide format printers after discussing it with supplier, Fuji Xerox Australia. He says, “We were guided by their expertise, we are more than happy with our relationship with Fuji Xerox so were happy to expand our equipment with them.” Epson says the SureColor Technical series is specifically designed for users who need to produce large format colour and black-and-white images at high speed, but also economically. Epson says they are compatible with a wide range of media from basic bond paper, to thick board, and are ideal printers for presentations, posters and displays. Design and architecture students are Dinkum’s main clientele, as the shop is located close to Melbourne’s universities. Wilson says, “Our business is really up and down, depending on the time of year. At the end of the semester we get crazy with jobs for about four or five weeks. A lot of our student customers go on to start their own creative design businesses, so we continue to provide work for them even after.” Wilson is pleased to report that even during Dinkum’s quiet period, work is increasing and his business is now growing beyond its student base.
