EFI launches Fiery-driven EX print server for DocuColor 8080 press

The 80ppm digital press, which was unveiled earlier this month, is designed to cater for a range of jobs that include direct mail, booklet production, marketing collateral and calendars.

The printer, which can output onto substrates up to 300gsm, features a low gloss dry ink that Xerox claims offers a smooth matt-like finish to marketing materials, helping to mirror offset print quality.

According to EFI, the combination of its Fiery technology and the Xerox Automated Color Quality Suite (ACQS), which automates colour management, helps ensure accurate colour output.

EFI’s new EX print server also adds Fiery Image Enhance Visual Editor (IEVE), new job management software that allows for the editing of each image without needing to return to the native file. The company claims this simplifies the editing process and saves time as a result.

The server features EFI’s Colour Profiler Suite (CPS), a fully integrated colour management toolset, as standard.

John Henze, vice president of Fiery marketing at EFI, said: “EFI brings innovative colour features and productivity-enhancing capabilities such as native PDF workflow to the newest press in the DocuColor line-up.

“With the combined strength of Xerox and Fiery technology, this press exceeds the challenges of today’s fast-paced, high-quality colour production environments.”
