EFI launches version 4.5 of Fiery and Colorproof XF

The speed boost is down to native 64-bit Windows support and the ability to handle multi-threaded halftone production, according to EFI, with benchmark testing showing speed increases of up to 177% for PDF files compared to the previous 4.1 version.

A Job Merge feature enables master and content jobs to be created efficiently using variable content, and EFI Cut Marks Option plots iCut, FOTOBA and Grommet marks as well as offering Zund Cut Center connectivity.

The products also include Dynamic Wedge technology that verifies and optimises on-the-fly spot colours in LAB, RGB, Grey, CMYK, and can handle up to seven-colour jobs. They also support the Pantone Plus library and boast a new Colour Verifier able to support current and future ISO standards. Better support and handling of white, varnish and metallic inks means the software can be used for packaging work.

JDF-based server connectivity has been improved to better link with MIS and web-to-print components, and more drivers have been added to support the latest models from Canon, Epson, HP, Roland and Xerox.

Stefan Speigel, general manager of EFI Inkjet Appplications Group, said: “This new release…extends RIP functionality to give customers complete control of colour throughout their supply chain.

“Additional functionality not only improves production productivity but allows printers to offer dedicated cutting and finishing options.”

Local EFI distributor DES said it is currently finalising a Australian release date.
