EFI secures new victory in patent lawsuit over Vutek technology

The manufacturer has been defending its Vutek inkjet technology and printer design technologies, patent numbers 6,457,823 and 6,616,355, since 2005.

However, a Missouri court has ruled all of Leggett & Platt’s claims invalid on various grounds.

The court ruled that EFI was the first company to both invent and patent the technology, which therefore invalidates the company’s lawsuit claims.

The lawsuit defence is the third such victory for EFI, which faced a similar patent case, also from Leggett & Platt, in September 2008.
