Entries open for Fespa Awards

Entries for the annual Fespa Awards are now open, with the global print winners set to be announced at the Gala Dinner for Fespa 18, taking place in May in Berlin.

The 2017 edition saw Australian 3D print company Omus take the People’s Choice Award for its Louis Vuitton pop-up store, created using 3D printing technology.

The dome-shaped structure was 3D printed in 48 sections which were then assembled and wrapped in film. Because stocks were limited, additional material had to be air freighted in to complete the project. In total, the team went through about 900 kilograms of gel printing material.

Fespa says, “Established in 1991 the Awards are renowned throughout the world of print. Each year, this is where the talents of outstanding recipients are showcased and judged by industry experts, it is where industry standards are set and it is also where inspiration abounds – find out for yourself.

“2017 saw more than 400 print experts gather in Hamburg to celebrate the very best of their industry. With hundreds of entries across 14 categories, an incredible shortlist and culminating in a spectacular black tie dinner, the Fespa Print Excellence Awards are where stars are created, and importantly new business contacts and relationships are made.

“Entrants for the 2018 Awards have until January 26 to submit their work. The final judging will take place in March and the winners will be announced alongside the Fespa 2018 exhibition in Berlin at the Fespa Gala Dinner on the May 16.”
