Fergies Print & Mail recruits new chief executive Richard Sloan

The company has restructured its management over the past eight weeks, also appointing Damian Cooke as sales and marketing manager. Cooke’s CV includes positions at ShowAds, PMP, and IPG, where he served as general manager.

Sloan has 30 years of experience in the IT and service bureau industry. He spent the last four years as Queensland state manager at Fuji Xerox Global Services after stints at Unisys and QM Technologies.

Both Sloan and Cooke have said the company is now looking at expanding its focus into being a full-service communications provider.

“We are moving forward into areas like database management, segmentation and storage, customised mailing pieces, and multi-level marketing campaigns,” Cooke told ProPrint. “We’re interested in helping our customers find solutions and ultimately yielding them a greater return on their spend.”

“Long gone are the days of wasting marketing dollars on communicating with unprofitable customers and unlikely prospects,” he added.

The first stage of this new approach has been hiring creative agency Engine Group to revamp the company website. Sloan said the current site “does not display the image that we are looking to portray to our customers and prospects”.

“[Engine] demonstrated the most professional, in-depth understanding and innovative proposal that we were presented. The background work, and especially the copy content, demonstrated to us that they were the company we wanted to work with,” said Sloan.

The restructure completes a big year for the company, which recently achieved accreditation for both the ISO-9001 Quality Assurance and ISO-14001 Environmental standards, as well as certification under Printing Industries‘ Sustainable Green Print (SGP) initiative.

The company also reported strong growth in its digital printing business with the deployment of a Fuji Xerox Nuvera 120 EA press.
