Fiji’s largest printer part of the regional rush on PacPrint

Quality Print director Dewan Maharaj said the Suva firm tried to attend every show in the region, and that he expected to be in Melbourne for the entire expo.

“We are on a small, remote island, so to see the latest technology we need to attend shows like PacPrint,” he said.

“Every time, we find we pick up something new. In recent years, we have had the opportunity to find out about HP Indigo presses and have since invested in two of them.

“The industry is moving very much towards digital technology and we know we have to keep pace with the changes. We are also moving into packaging and diecutting, so we are confident there will be plenty to see at PacPrint13.”

Maharaj told the PacPrint Daily that Quality Print’s 76 staff makes it Fiji’s largest printer. “I have heard some people in the industry complaining that things are a bit slow, but for us it has been steady and our expectation is that this will continue,” he said.

PacPrint organisers said that
the number of overseas visitors to this exhibition would probably match those from PacPrint09, when 4% of visitors came from abroad, “the vast majority of whom were senior decision-makers”.

“More than 400 attendees to PacPrint09 came from New Zealand and 170 from other countries. We expect a similar trend in 2013 with over 200 overseas industry professionals representing more than 30 countries already registered to attend, a total which is growing daily,” said organisers.

The organisers also said feedback after day one had been positive, with many exhibitors reporting that the quality of visitors, and numbers on the first day, had met or exceeded expectations.
