Finsbury Green buys BPA

Finsbury Green has dramatically expanded its print management business with the acquisition of Business Print Australia.

Chief executive Peter Orel says the takeover gives the company access to new markets, campaign distribution services and a significant warehouse operation in NSW.

“It creates a compelling extension of new and existing services, and a more comprehensive and operationally efficient supply chain solution,” he says.

All 28 of BPA’s employees will be retained and Finsbury’s seven NSW staff will move into the BPA facility in Botany. Finsbury now has more than 150 staff nationally.

Orel says the client lists of the two companies are complementary and BPA’s service-oriented culture and strong reputation are good fits.

“Customers of both businesses will benefit from a broadening of our services and an enhancement of our value proposition, having access to a much broader range of print, mail and digital services with excellent levels of service and quality,” Orel says.

The move immediately makes Finsbury a top print management player and brings in numerous big clients, though BPA had taken some major hits recently with the loss of Suncorp to Stream last year and Vodafone to Blue Star earlier this year.

Unlike its contracts with the Victorian Government and NSW Roads and Maritime, BPA clients are not restricted to print management only, so printing can either be done in-house or outsourced through the sourceit platform.

Buying a major rival print manager continues Finsbury’s careful expansion from its South Australian origin, having bought into Melbourne 14 years ago and become a national print and marketing services firm.

The company says it has grown its print management business tenfold since launching sourceit four years ago, and a year ago boosted its distribution muscle by acquiring mailhouse Post Haste.

“This is another important step in our progress in the Australian market on the back of our mailhouse acquisition last year,” Orel says.

Services Finsbury takes on from BPA include warehousing solutions for marketing collateral and not-for-resale products, and inventory and campaign management service including kitting and distribution.
