The ceremony was held at Harbourside last night (20 September), following the first day of GASAA’s PrintWorks Expo, which is currently co-locating with the Visual Impact Image Expo at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Look Print won the wide-format award for its ‘Building Art’ entry. Armstrong Q was highly commended in the category for its submission, ‘Body of Work 2:1’.

The offset/web category, sponsored by ProPrint, went to Fluoro Publications for its ‘Fluoro7’ entry.

Meanwhile, the digital (non-variable) category was won by Print Portal for ‘It’s Weird in Here’.

There was no outright winner in the digital (variable) category, but a ‘highly commended’ award was handed to Freerange Creative fro its ‘YellowPostie Cards’ entry.

There were two winners in the general category: Watermarx Graphics was named for its ‘Pulp’ business cards, while Royle Industries also won for its RoyleBind Digital Printing onto Metallised Polyester.

Theo Pettaras, awards chairman and managing director of Sydney printer Digitalpress, said: “Considerable time has been spent rating the entries to come up with what we believe to be the best.”

Meanwhile, the crowd was entertained by comedian and TV personality Effie, who joked: “The Printovation Awards are the ‘Wonderbra’ of printing – they lift you up where you belong. Or, if you want, they are the Viagra of printing.”
