Fuji Xerox Australia gets Fogra tick

Colour management services manager, Gordon Fogarty (pictured, right), was awarded certification on behalf of FXA after a week-long development workshop and two-day certification process conducted by Fogra’s Ulrich Schmitt at CGS’s head office in Germany.

It means Fogarty can make adjustments to Xerox and Fuji Xerox print engines that will improve colour reproduction.

Clients will then be able to badge their work as meeting Fogra standards. Fogarty can also submit proofs to Fogra on their behalf.

He pointed out that this doesn’t mean these clients have achieved Fogra certification, but they can use a personalised logo saying their work meets Fogra standards.

Simon Lane (pictured, left), national manager of production services business at Fuji Xerox Australia, told ProPrint that effective colour management was becoming “absolutely essential” for Australian digital printing companies.

“Over the last few years, we’ve classed implementing colour management processes for our clients as one of our key initiatives, because we know it can save them a truckload of time and improve efficiencies,” he said.

“It eliminates a lot of the trial-and-error from colour management,” he added.

The Fogra Validation Print standard assesses colour accuracy, fading, rub resistance, homogeneity, PDF/X compliance, and consistency of the print output over a period of time.

Andreas Kraushaar, the head of Fogra’s pre-press division, said: “The Validation Print is a colour definition, targeted at companies such as data centres, small graphic and design studios, pre-press companies and graphics agencies, which would like to fall back on pre-defined quality within their creation process.”
