Fujifilm proofing paper scores UGRA seal of approval

UGRA managing director Erwin Widmer, a special PacPrint guest, told ProPrint the Fujifilm proofing paper has been certified to the ISO 12647-7 proofing standard, which describes the required colour and gloss of the product.

“There were two other aspects we tested. One is its life or durability and our test is that we simulate the lifetime over one year. With Fujifilm Satin, we detected almost no change,” Widmer said.

UGRA also tested the paper for optical brightener, which can bias the proof, distorting the match both visually and in terms of measurements, he explained. “We found a little optical brightener, but within a good range,” he said.

A mid-print PSO certification awarded yesterday to Look Print and CMYKit for an Epson 4000 on an EFI proofing RIP used Fujifilm Satin 270, CMYKit’s Jason Hall noted.

Fujifilm’s Warren Hinder said the Satin 270 product is a 270gsm gauge. “It has a very nice firm feel and the colour matching is very good. From a technical and from an aesthetic perspective, it’s a very good looking proof.”
