GAE boasts more than $1m drupa sales as Horizon system pulls in business

The West London company believes that the launch of the Horizon StitchLiner’s long-edge feeding system, which took place at the event, is a driver of the success.

The orders included two full StitchLiner systems, a booklet making system, folders and finishing attachments. It also took orders for two of the new MGI DP digital printing engines – one with full card-finishing capabilities.

Joint managing director Bryan Godwyn said: “We always knew that drupa would be an important show and that has proved to be the case. The printers who made the trip saw state-of-the-art technology and the focus on quality digital engines and full automation in the bindery.

“We knew customers were searching for new efficient ways of running their businesses and they certainly found these solutions. In tough trading conditions customers need to analyse their business needs even more closely. Where else could a printer come and research the market in such a complete way but at drupa?”

According to Godwyn, Horizon’s new feeding system offers a more stable operation on awkward materials – in particular on thinner stocks.

The new approach gives printers access to a wider range of stock and increases the ability to use lighter grades, he added.

GAE will now look to entice those customers that visited the show but didn’t invest by holding open days in September, which will be the first UK showing for the new machines.
