GMG and Four Pees make colour quality easier for wide-format printers

The PrintFactory GMG Edition platform, which will be unveiled at Fespa in Germany this week, is designed to speed up file handling and preparation and achieve consistent colour results across all large-format production.

It combines PrintFactory’s preflighting and job preparation tools, including the ability to add folds, seams and tunnels, define die-cut lines and create tiles and grommets, with GMG’s colour management and profiling and calibration tools.

GMG ColorServer automatically processes any colour conversions in order to obtain uniform colour standards, while SmartProfiler creates ColorServer colour profiles and printer calibrations for large-format printing systems.

The bridge between the two companies’ software is provided by GMG FlowConnect, which enables job ticket controlled, automatic and flexible handling of jobs.

PrintFactory GMG Edition comes in two versions, PrintFactory GMG Edition for Print Shops and PrintFactory GMG Edition for Industrial LFP.

PrintFactory GMG Edition for Print Shops can be used for inkjet-based large-format production that mainly focuses on indoor applications such as banners, POP/POS, displays and small vehicle wrapping.

PrintFactory GMG Edition for Industrial LFP is aimed at very-large-format production for indoor and outdoor applications, including billboards, interior and exterior POP/POS, and large vehicle wraps.

Garry Muratore, area sales manager at GMG Oceania, confirmed that the software will be available in Australia later in the year.

“The wide-format market is showing enormous growth and GMG welcomes the opportunity to provide a range of colour management tools to this important segment,” he said.

“Wide-format printing is no different to other forms of printing in so far as printers struggle with differing results based on print technology, ink and substrates. GMG takes the struggle out of the process and can guarantee colour consistency at the highest quality across the entire print enterprise.
