IMS and Snap pick up PIXI awards

IMS won first prize in the Direct Marketing category for their direct mail campaign for the Collingwood Football Club, with the material printed on a Xerox iGen3 production colour press.

“We are very pleased with our investment in the iGen3 given our company size and are honoured to receive a PIXI award in recognition of our work,” said IMS managing director Buzz Borsitzky.

Meanwhile, Snap Printing – Westpac Digital Print Centre won the top award in the Environmental category for the Westpac Brand Palette Booklet (pictured), which was printed on an iGen3 and DocuColor 8000 using 100 per cent recycled paper.

Snap also received an honourable mention in the Books and Manuals category for the Westpac Brand Principles Booklet, which was printed using the same equipment.

Two second place prizes were also awarded to Australian companies, with Docucopy Pty Ltd of Victoria picking up the gong in the Books and Manuals category, and Adelaide-based Digital Print Australia winning second place in the New Business Application category.

“Once again, our Australian customers have demonstrated that they are the best of the best in the digital print industry and can create cutting edge applications,” said Brett Maishman, Fuji Xerox Australia’s national commercial print business manager.

While this is only the second year that the PIXI awards have been open to Australian entrants since their inception eight years ago, judges also noted the increasing presence of Australian companies.

“We had a significant increase in the number of entries from companies across APAC which definitely made the competition more challenging for entrants,” said Alf Carrigan, chairman of the judging panel. “Australian companies fared particularly well in this year’s competition due to the high quality and creativity of their submissions.”

The Australian winners will formally receive their awards at the Fuji Xerox Innovate 09 conference to be held on October 7th on the Gold Coast, as well as the Asia Pacific Premier Partner conference which will take place in Korea in November. The winning submissions will also be showcased at this month’s Print 09 event in Chicago.

Last year, Sydney-based company The Digital Centre won first prize in the Books and Manuals category, with Griffin Digital and BlueStar GO also picking up awards.
