Industry pulls together for cancer research

Competing print suppliers are banding together to support breast cancer research with a fundraising dinner next month.

BJ Ball, Courtney Colour, Currie Group, HP, immij, KW Doggett, Spicers, UPM, Women in Print Australia and the PIAA will sponsor the event at Melbourne’s Sandringham Yacht Club on September 10.

AFL footballer David King, radio host Brigitte Duclos and cancer survivor Lisa Kidd will present the evening’s schedule, which will include an auction and silent auction with all proceeds to go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

BJ Ball marketing and business development manager Tony Bertrand says the aim is to raise $20,000 for the foundation, and half of the 30 tables are already sold.

“With more than 34,000 people directly employed in the Australian printing industry, 32 per cent being women, it is important we recognise the human challenges that many of us will face over our lifetime,” he says.

“As a family we should take the opportunity to celebrate, enjoy and contribute to the successes, the fun things and the serious things that occur every day in our industry.”

Seats for the night are $110, tables $1000. To RSVP contact Rosemary Pitts on 03 8587 3500 or rosemary.pitts@bjball.com.au
