Libs make gender blunder in print

The Liberal Party of Australia has been left red-faced after a number of Australian women took to social media to complain about misprinted names on political correspondence.

Election campaign letters mailed to unmarried women living with other males or their partners have been addressed with the man’s surname instead of their own.

ProPrint contacted the Liberal Party for comment on the print and mail process for electoral correspondence. The party says the blunder was the result of human error transferring electoral data to direct mail communication.

“Human error inadvertently meant some people living at the same address were grouped together. This was unintentional. No discourtesy was intended and we apologise,” states a Coalition spokesperson.

The print gaffe comes shortly before Australians are due to hit the polls on Saturday, July 2.

The Coalition did not advise where the problem occurred.
