Mental health awareness workshop provider, Man Anchor, has launched a four-hour version of its program called Speak-Easy.
“This week we are launching a new program called Speak-Easy based around understanding the signs of a friend or loved one that is living with a mental health condition and the communication tools and support mechanisms required in times of crisis,” said the founder of Man Anchor, and the national sales manager of Böttcher Australia, Steven Gamble.
“We have three programs – an hour-long workshop called Let’s Talk which is a simple platform to start the discussion around mental health, now there is Speak-Easy which is a four hour program which gives a more in-depth look into mental health and then we have the Mental Health First Aid program – a 12 hour program – which provides a full spectrum of mental health disorders ranging from anxiety and suicide to drug and alcohol abuse,” he said.
“The number one concern for businesses is time, and trying to pull an employee out of their role for 12 hours can be difficult, so we have created a program that was effective and also gave them the tools to be able to help someone in crisis. It takes a bit from our one-hour program and 12-hour program – and it is weighted towards helping someone that is already in crisis and having the tools to support someone who is suicidal.
“This is not just for someone in the printing industry – it is for the community in general. We have worked with associations, sporting organisations, large corporate firms and most recently we have conducted 12-hours of training for 17 frontline managers at concrete company Hanson. All 12-hour program participants receive a three-year certification.”
