Martin Print first to accept Bitcoin payments

Business stationery printer Martin Print is the first Australian printer to accept controversial crypto currency Bitcoin as payment for its print and design services.

The peer-to-peer based payment method allows people to instantly transfer funds between each other like a Paypal account, and then sell the bitcoins to other users online for cash without the need for a bank or any other kind of middleman.

Martin Print owner Martin Russell says Bitcoin is increasingly becoming a popular payment method with enterprising and innovative Australian businesses.

“We’re proud and excited to become an early adopter of this digital cryptocurrency,” he says.

“We’re confident it will help us to connect with new clients who consider Bitcoin to be the preferable payment choice.”

Russell says interest from clients prompted the company’s adoption of Bitcoins.

“The breeds of clients we tend to attract have their finger on the pulse,” he says.

“The decision to accept Bitcoin was in response to a lot of inquiries on the matter from our client base, and I’m thrilled from our initial feedback that it’s turned out to be a popular decision.”

Russell says Martin Print will initially sell its bitcoins on the open market and later use a service like BitPay.

He says the number of potential clients who use Bitcoin is ‘not overly big’ right now but he thinks the crypto currency field is growing fast as the currency develops more trust and becomes easier to use.

“I am hoping to attract the growing number of companies who accept Bitcoin, as well as those individuals and organisations who have seen the potential of Bitcoin as an investment and are looking for sources where they can spend it,” he says.

“I genuinely believe that Bitcoin transactions will help keep Martin Print one digital step ahead of the competition. I’d advise any business to take a serious look at this new way of serving a chunk of the market.

“I am hoping our lead will cause others to follow.”

Martin Print has offices in Sydney, Perth and the Sunshine Coast and offers print and design services including business cards, stickers, magnets, office stationery, brochures, catalogues, flyers, greeting cards, stubbie holders, key rings and drink coasters.
