Mimaki launches inkjet printer with LED UV ink curing technology

Inkjet printer supplier Mimaki has launched a new 3.2m roll-to-roll inkjet printer, the UJV55-320, which the company has tipped to be one of the standout product launches at next month’s Visual Impact Exhibition held in Brisbane. Mimaki has marketed the new printer as the ideal solution for printers specialising in window graphics, and backlit day and night signs, with added LED UV ink technology and LED lightbox features. The company says the new printer uses instant-curing LED UV ink, which it promises to produce graphics that exit the printer dry, resulting in reduced production cycle times. Mimaki’s white ink is considered to be especially suitable for producing window graphics, and backlit day and night signs.

With an additional post-print LED lightbox, Mimaki says this allows operators to check the printing quality of backlit signage during its production run, giving a preview of its installed look and reducing waste and time. Mimaki Australia sales and marketing manager Brad Creighton says, “ The new UJV55-320 offers an ideal solution for the huge growth market of grand format backlit graphics; frequently found in airports and other public spaces. “ With low running costs, thanks to its LED UV curing technology and competitively priced inks, a substantial colour gamut, excellent image opacity and Mimaki’s traditionally high print quality, we are certain it will have broad appeal.” Mimaki says the new printer is capable of delivering speeds of up to 110 sqm per hour with print resolutions of up to 1200dpi. The UJV55-320 has a seven colour inkset with white and light cyan which can be configured in a 4 colour mode or 6 colour set.
