Monster magazine the biggest ever

A British printer has produced the biggest magazine ever, weighing in at an astonishing 106kg and taking 14 hours to print.

The monster 156-page issue has been inducted into the Guinness Book of Records, with its 7.179sqm surface area beating the previous mark of 6.96sqm.

Sheffield printer Polestar needed 9.3 litres of ink to print to print the magazine, a recyclable replica of the August issue of Healthy that measures 3.055m in height and 2.35m in width.

Nicola Murphy, chief executive of publisher River Group, says it took six months to establish whether the magazine could be made. “We knew that Polestar would find a way to do it,” she says.

River senior production manager Martin Black says: “It’s something we haven’t done before, tried before or even thought of before, so just trying to find out the logistics of it was quite nerve-wracking.

“It feels great to be world record breakers. Not many people can lay claim to that, and it’s a great achievement for all of us.”
