New CBA print buyer brings PM perspective

Penrose’s CV includes five years heading up the Australian operations of New Zealand PM company Trio Group and five years before that as national sales & marketing manager at PMA Solutions.

He took on the role as executive manager of print operations management & marketing services at CBA on 3 August and told ProPrint he was “really excited” to take on such a significant buying position.

“It’s a pretty significant change for me considering where I have come from. It’s my first experience on the client side of this scale,” he said.

Commonwealth Bank had procured print though the Cyberlynx Procurement Services buying group from 2000 until the end of 2006, when buying was brought back in-house.

Penrose told ProPrint he hoped his PM experience meant he would bring “a different perspective”.

“My background is PM so dialling some of the commercial imperatives into the function here was one of the reasons I got the job.”
