NT Premier to inaugurate Coleman’s million-dollar Indigo investment

Managing director Tony Coleman said he was delighted the Top End’s leading citizen would officially launch the million-dollar investment at a function in Darwin on Friday

“It doesn’t get any bigger than the equivalent of the Premier to launch the machine,” Coleman said.

“A request was put through and he accepted which was great. I think he’s pretty excited about the technology being in northern Australia.”

Chief minister Henderson expressed his support for what he called “an iconic Territory business”.

“The investment of over $1 million in new state-of-the-art press machines puts Coleman’s at the forefront of the industry and is a significant boost to the future of digital printing in the Territory,” he said.

“The flow-on effects for our local economy are great and this significant investment will help support local businesses and will keep money in the Territory and people in jobs.”

Coleman predicted about 200 to 300 people would attend the launch and said he hoped it would generate new business.

The Indigo 5500s were installed by Currie Group in December and were up and running by January.

Coleman said the company’s investment was part of a strategy to position itself as a high-end digital print provider and reflected its belief that there were substantial growth opportunities in the Northern Territory.

He added the machines would allow Coleman’s to pick up extra work that used to go interstate.

“The HP Indigo presses deliver enormous flexibility in the types of jobs we can take on and the substrates we can use, the speed at which we can go to market and the range of products we will be able to develop,” he said.

“We’ve thought about making this move for some time now, and after extensive research and speaking with other HP Indigo users at the Dscoop event in Singapore last year, we are convinced that the HP Indigo technology is the platform on which to drive growth well into the future.”
