Opus plucks $5.7m contract from Computershare and ABNote

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) contract comprises printing, mailing and fulfilment services. The agency had been using ABNote for printing and Computershare for mailing house and fulfilment services, a spokesman told ProPrint.

Opus’ government specialist, CanPrint Communications, has won the tender to print and manage documents like enrolment letters, enrolment forms and ad hoc material, he said.

Australian Office will continue to supply envelopes to the AEC contract in a sub-contract arrangement with CanPrint, he added.

The spokesman said this was the first time the AEC had used a single provider.

The AEC contract marks the latest government win for CanPrint, whose clients include AusIndustry, the Department of Treasury and the Australian National Audit Office.

CanPrint general manager Sam Holden attributed the win to the reputation the company had built with the government, its full document management service and its ability to handle security sensitive work.

“Opus’ proprietary IPALM system allows us to co-ordinate all aspects of content delivery,” he said.

“It is fundamental to Opus’ strategy – to provide an end-to-end value chain for our customers, from creation to consumption.”

The AEC valued the contract at $5.7 million, although Opus said it was worth about $4 million.
