Opus swaps print for smartphones with another strategic software alliance

Opus said the partnership with Australian creative technology agency Tilt & Co would allow it to provide mobile touchscreen content design and delivery services across the Asia-Pacific.

This is the second time in four months Opus has turned to a strategic alliance to strengthen its digital content.

Opus signed a deal in May with MTC to receive services including electronic versioning, app solutions, the conversion of traditional products and electronic book and publishing creation.

Group chief executive Cliff Brigstocke told ProPrint that Opus was currently exploring further strategic alliances as it looked to complement its traditional business with new ways of delivering content.

The Tilt & Co partnership enhances Opus’ offering to professional, educational and trade publishers and government departments, said Brigstocke.

“This complements our existing partnership with MTC in the Philippines to produce a range of document processing solutions, including e-books and ‘e-pubs’ for major publishers,” he said.

Tilt & Co managing director Stu Cameron said the alliance would help local industry and government transition to digital channels.

Opus recently reported a full-year $1.8 million loss, but said it had a strong underlying position and was on track to return to profit in 2012-13.
