PacPrint Q&A: Fujifilm Australia

Sturt Eastwood

General manager, Graphic Systems

Fujifilm Australia

When was your company's first PacPrint?

In the early ’80s. This was when Fujifilm first introduced its phototypesetting papers and films to the industry.

Can you name any milestone launches at previous PacPrints?

Fujifilm's Scanart 30 B&W high-quality scanner. The F-9000 CTF film imagesetter, which went on to win the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Award for Innovation. Fujifilm's Color-Art analogue proofing system went on to become the number one system in Australia and NZ. We also launched our violet and thermal CTP and more recently our low-chem PRO-V and processless PRO-T plates.

Can you name any milestone sales at previous PacPrints?

In 2005, Fujifilm featured the Inca Columbia Turbo as the hero product on the stand. At the time, this was a million-dollar machine and the fastest flatbed in the world. The machine was sold off the stand to Colorcorp in Queensland and is still operating commercially.

PacPrint or PrintEx – what’s your favourite?

As the ‘Drupa of Australia’, PacPrint is the premier event for our domestic market, although we find both events of importance to the industry.

How can customers get the most out of PacPrint?

I would recommend customers to have a think about why they are going to the show. Is it because they are looking to expand their business into wide-format? Is it because they are looking to reduce costs by updating their equipment? Is it because they want to optimise workflow within their production facility? And if it’s all of the above, what takes priority?

How will you entice customers to invest?

Rather than saving on the wrong end, we assist our customers in moving their production in the right direction and help secure business in the future. Partnering with Fujifilm is all about creating sustainable success.

What will you be showing at PacPrint13?

The most exciting new product will be the Jet Press 540W, a web-fed digital inkjet press with the highest flexibility, versatility and performance standards. In addition, we will focus on our new wide format heavy metal such as the Uvistar Pro8, Acuity Advance Select and Acuity LED 1600, processless CTP solution, XMF workflow and ColourGate colour management software as well as media by Euromedia.

Can you give us any other hints about your stand or plans for the show?

Come to the show and you’ll see.
