PacPrint13: Colour Graphic Services

Colour Graphic Services, one of the region’s leading colour consultancies, will welcome Alan Dresch, founder and owner of Mellow Colour, to its stand. Dresch and colour specialist David Crowther will demonstrate Mellow Colour’s latest suite of colour QA applications, including the first local demonstration of Impression Proof and RabbitScanner. Dresch has recently been working with major brands internationally, including the UK’s Marks and Spencer, with the rollout of Impression Proof and RabbitScanner.

Impression Proof provides press-side colour confirmation and remote print approval using a new colour management technology, “comparative proofing”, pioneered by Mellow Colour. Visual confirmation of a job printing is possible for customers using the Adobe PDF engine for geometric accuracy and the Adobe colour management module inside for colour fidelity. Press ink key settings and colour approval can be gained using an inexpensive large-format, high-brightness HD screen along with Mellow Colour FlatLine software and the ImpressionProof module. This supports CMYK and any number of spot or special colours.

“We firmly believe that the Impression Proof product is unique in the market today,” says Crowther.

In response to printers’ requests for reduced waste, reduced makeready times and higher expectations in standardised colour, Mellow Colour has developed RabbitScanner, a cost effective way to improve press utilisation. It will reduce a typical makeready time by at least 10 minutes, says Dresch, and yet has the accuracy of the X-Rite EyeOne.

PacPrint13 will serve as the venue for the local release and first demonstrations of Impression Proof and RabbitScanner to the market.

Star product Mellow Colour RabbitScanner

Colour Graphic Services will use PacPrint for the Australian launch of RabbitScanner from UK colour management experts Mellow Colour.

According to Mellow Colour, printers face economic pressure due to a customer’s expectation of standardised colour over ever-decreasing run lengths. They can spec out inline automation on-press or rely on operators to get the best quality off the machine.

Another option is press measuring equipment. But this equipment can be pricey, which is where the RabbitScanner comes in. Mellow Colour says it is fast, affordable and will reduce a typical makeready time by about 10 minutes. The RabbitScanner is available in widths to suit all popular printing machines.

Rabbit—Scanner consists of scanning hardware and software manufac-tured by Mellow Colour. The measure—-ment head is an X-Rite Eye One Pro.
