PacPrint13: Graph-Pak

Graph-Pak will show a plethora of new products at PacPrint13 to highlight its focus on finishing equipment.

These launches will include a brand new Autobond Mini 76 TH laminator. Graph-Pak had intended to show more equipment from the UK manufacturer, especially its spot UV (SUV) technology, but the distributor’s managing director, Tom Ralph, says that the machine is just too popular: “We had planned to have an SUV, but Autobond just can’t build them fast enough.”

The Graph-Pak stand will have video demonstrations of the technology, he adds, as well as a representative from Autobond UK to assist with any enquiries.

The two new machines that can be configured with the SUV system are the Mini 36 SD TPM-36 SUV, a 36x74cm thermal perfector laminator, and the 52 SUV-SDF, a B2 portrait inkjet spot UV machine with Heidelberg-Stahl suction drum feeder.

The stand will host a Thermotype TSL2 digital finishing machine, the Thermotype foiler, the Smyth digital sewing machine, and the Vacuumatic TCF counter feeder for bulky inserts, onserts and envelopes.

Star product Thermotype ZIP TSL2

The idea of an all-in-one is an attractive proposition, especially for small digital houses where lots of fiddly, short-run, low-value jobs are the norm. The Zip-TSL2 from US manufacturer Thermotype creases, perforates, slits, diecuts, blind embosses, holepunches and square holepunches, and can handle four different processes simultaneously.

Reseller Graph-Pak announced the first two sales of the finishing device, the first one to Brisbane-based Daroji Print Finishing and the second to Melbourne CBD printer Documents on Call.

The TSL2 boasts a Windows XP touchscreen interface that can save, store and recall up to 500 programs. According to Thermotype, the feeder can handle a wide range of papers with various coatings and features a 13.5-inch paper capacity. Electronic registration of the lead edge promises accuracy without any loss of productivity.

Thermotype says the machine’s guillotine is “extremely rugged” and is rated up to 400gsm.
