PacPrint13: Roland DG Australia

The wide-format supplier will be offering a broad range of hardware at its stand. One of the stars of its stand will certainly be the Soljet Pro4 XF-640 wide-format production printer, which will get its launch at PacPrint13. Alongside this new machine, visitors will also see the Soljet Pro4 XR-640 printer-cutter, VersaUV LEJ-640 UV hybrid flatbed, VersaUV LEC-540 printer-cutter, VersaCamm VS Series printer-cutter, VersaUV LEF-12 desktop UV flatbed and the VersaStudio BN-20 desktop printer-cutter.

Roland DG says the Soljet Pro4 XF-640 offers unprecedented production printing for the wide-format market, with exceptional quality, colour gamut and speed. The new printer allows quality output at speeds of 60m² per hour.

Among its most salient features will be the Eco-Sol Max 2 ink, dual staggered print heads, new media handling technology, new “user-orientated” workflows, and what the company calls exceptional quality at exceptional speeds.

According to Roland DG, “the dual-mirrored CMYK ink configuration virtually eliminates banding for consistent colour imaging when handling large graphic files”.

“The new heads are also designed to fire high levels of ink for added density and rich, saturated colours.”

Besides the new production printer, Roland DG is hoping to have a surprise on its stand that was hidden behind closed doors at Drupa.

Star product Roland DG Soljet Pro4 XF-640

Only just announced, this machine is the fastest ever from the wide-format manufacturer – the Soljet Pro4 XF-640, which can produce up to 102m² per hour.

This headline speed is in a single-pass 360x360dpi resolution mode, which the firm claims is sellable for banner, billboard and building wrap applications. At the standard 720x720dpi mode, throughout is 24m² per hour. Roland DG expects most users would use that or the high-speed mode, which produces 30m² per hour at 720x360dpi. Like its sister machine, the Pro4 XR-640, launched last September, the XF-640 uses a new generation of eco-solvent inks, Eco-Sol Max 2, which the firm claims offers an expanded colour gamut and faster drying.

The XF-640 achieves its high speed by using two sets of mirrored CMYK in its staggered dual head print head. The manufacturer claims that this configuration eliminates banding.
