Peak Digital boosts signage specs with HP Scitex FB700

The company purchased the machine through reseller CPI Graphics in November, replacing an Agfa Anapurna machine at its Seaford factory.

Peak managing director Andrew Robertson told ProPrint that the new machine was “like a direct replacement but with better quality and speed”.

“The market was being driven by quality, and with the recent technology improvements we were getting left behind because we had an older machine,” he said.

“This does everything the old machine did, but with better quality.”

Robertson said the machine’s enhanced capabilities have helped the company win more work from its trade client base, particularly POS material with fine text.

“We’ve shown existing clients the FB700 and they’ve responded by giving us work that we weren’t in a position to produce before,” he said.

“In particular, the size of the machine and the fact that it can print white ink really made a difference to us. We often need to print white and in the past that has either meant screenprinting or outsourcing. Now we can do it in-line and that alone has made us more competitive and efficient.”

“We thoroughly investigated what was available on the market, but we kept coming back to the HP because it ticked all the boxes. None of the competitor models could offer all the features that the FB700 has,” Robertson said.

“A significant advantage is the machine’s ability to load another sheet while one is printing. We’ve seen productivity increase dramatically as a result.”

Peak Digital has been in operation since 2006 servicing trade customers as well as local businesses and national display companies. The company also handles a small percentage of screen-printing work.
