PIAA recruits for vacant Board positions

After the recent exodus of PIAA Board members, the Association has initiated the process to fill the four casual vacancies on the Board immediately, and is asking interested members to contact it as soon as possible. Since Susan Heaney’s departure in December 2015, another three Board members, Ross Black, David Leach and Stephen Edwards have resigned from the Board. The Board directors are needed to fill the NSW, Victoria and Queensland spots, with another one also available. The PIAA is now looking for printers to fill the spots.

The successful candidates will sit for the remainder of 2016, with the possibility of serving on after the Board elections, due to be held in October. The PIAA says no special qualifications are required for the positions, but printers with a good knowledge of communications, marketing and stakeholder engagement will receive special consideration. Candidates with an understanding of print industry key issues and governance will also be considered valuable to the Board. The PIAA expects successful appointments to provide full commitment to the role between now and the end of the year. Acting PIAA president, Kieran May says, “The print and communications sector has many challenges. The opportunities are there and with even stronger leadership, the PIAA will be in a better position to help its members. “Our Association needs talented people who are committed to great outcomes. We need people on the Board, and within the organisation, who understand our history but are focused firmly on the future.” The Board will be preparing a short list of names on March 17, and will confirm all appointments by the end of March.
