PIAA steps up push to attract young talent with new job matching service

The focal point of the Printing Industries Association of Australia (PIAA) scheme is a website that highlights the size of the printing industry and the “great career opportunities” available to both hands-on and creative types.

Employers will be encouraged to post enticing jobs for potential apprentices when the service launches in early December.

National program manager Ian Walz said the strategy to attract young talent also involved social media, plant visits and nationwide expos.

“The website provides ready access to information on industry career paths, how to go about starting a career and how to access the apprentice support provided around the country by our mentors. It will also feature a new ‘live chat’ service for more immediate engagement,” he said.

“This will be supplemented by social media and a more comprehensive website in the new future. Employers are catered for too and can get information on apprenticeships and the various incentives offered as well as registering their interest in hiring an apprentice.”

Employers who are interested in the free job service should visit http://printingcareers.com.au or contact mentoring@printnet.com.au
