The new line is an extension of its partnership with HP on the IntelliJet 30, which is a HP T300 high-speed inkjet web press (pictured) linked inline to a Pitney Bowes system.

The new IntelliJet 20 is a similar concept built around HP’s new T200 engine, which was launched at Ipex, and prints at 1,200x600dpi on a 520mm web, linked inline to Pitney Bowes’ mailing technology.

Pitney Bowes said the system can operate at up to 122m/min for monochrome or 61m/min for colour work. According to the company, the new machine has been designed to replace existing toner-based monochrome devices.

Pitney Bowes Document Messaging Technologies vice-president of marketing Kevin Marks said: “We have complete control over transactional mail. We control the document, we handle the data, we finish the document – our customers have been asking us to take the next step and print the document too.

“The IntelliJet 30 is for those companies already in the transactional mailing arena. But the IntelliJet 20 is for mid-volume applications. The two machines can complement each other, or it can be a forklift upgrade from monocolour printing.”

Marks added that further machines in the range would be developed. “When we launched the IntelliJet 30 we wanted a family of machines. This is the next step in creating that family,” he said.
