Plockmatic buyout of Morgana creates giant in digital finishing

Plockmatic has acquired UK-based Morgana Systems, which is distributed locally by Ferrostaal Australia.

According to Plockmatic: "The excellent Morgana distribution network is one of the reasons Plockmatic chose to acquire Morgana. We will look for opportunities to combine our product portfolios in different ways to meet customer requirements all over the world."

Plockmatic manufactures bookletmakers and mail feeding systems. Its offline portfolio is sold by Fuji Xerox Supplies in Australia, its inline products are offered by Fuji Xerox and Ricoh, and its mailing inserter is sold by Pitney Bowes as an OEM model, the DI880.

Morgana makes a range of binding devices aimed at the digital print end of the market, including creasers, bookletmakers and folders.

Both companies have close ties with the major digital press makers.

The two companies will now be headed by Plockmatic chief executive Jan Marstorp, with Morgana managing director Quen Baum retaining his role.

Baum said: "The combined companies and brands will be even stronger in the market and will better serve our customers and staff."

Plockmatic's Marstorp added: "For a long time we’ve had enormous respect for Morgana’s people and its products. Together, these two innovative companies add value to the printed page as part of the communications mix."
