PMP recruits Chesser to aid Distribution revamp

Chesser comes to the role from Salmat Distribution, where he served for ten years as general manager. A well-known figure in the industry, Chesser is also chairman of the Australian Catalogue Association.

“Today’s appointment is another example of the transformation journey PMP Limited is on,” chief executive Richard Allely said in a statement. “Our aim is to secure the best people in the industry to drive PMP forward and to rebuild the business.”

Chesser will have his work cut out for him, with PMP recently admitting to serious flaws in its Distribution business where customers were supplied with “incorrect delivery statistics”. PMP has battled persistent allegations regarding its distribution service, with some reports claiming it lost contracts with major clients such as Coles as a result of the irregularities.

Chesser will report to the recently-appointed executive general manager of PMP Distribution, Andrew Williams.

“Retailers are calling out for a competitive industry with two strong distribution players,” Chesser said. “I hope to deliver that competitiveness, to demonstrate the importance of catalogues in this country and to bring sustainability in to the industry.”
